Brian the boy

Brian Sellars b 1941. Heavy cranes, satellite tracking and the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles, have long loomed large in my life. I was born and raised on the edge of the Peak District, in a suburb of Sheffield overlooking roaring steelworks and gloriously wild moorland.

My first novel, The Whispering Bell, set in the Peak District of circa 650 AD, was a competition winner, spotted by my publisher on the writers’ website YouWriteOn.com. My second, Tuppenny Hat Detective, is very different, being a nostalgic detective story set in Sheffield in 1951. I love writing and work at it every day. I’m extremely lucky to have the best wife in the world; and she encourages me and helps me with my work.

I love animals, especially my dog Wulfi, who shares many of my hobbies including gardening, woodworking, walking in the British countryside, drinking real ale in old pubs, and watching football.  I’m fascinated by British and Anglo Saxon history, and enjoy visiting the sites and scenes of its unfolding.   My wife and I live on the Somerset Wiltshire border a few miles south of the city of Bath.
